Together, Dr. Tecoy Porter Sr. and Dr. Ellington W. Porter Sr. have built a legacy of faith, music, and leadership that has touched churches, communities, and audiences worldwide. As pastors, producers, and worship leaders, they are known for blending gospel excellence with deep-rooted ministry and community engagement.

Dr. Tecoy Porter Sr.

Pastor • Advocate • Songwriter

Dr. Tecoy Porter Sr. is a visionary leader whose impact spans ministry, civil rights, gospel music, and community transformation. As Senior Pastor of Genesis Church Sacramento and President of the National Action Network Sacramento Chapter, he has spent decades empowering others through faith, advocacy, and action.

A respected songwriter, choir director, and gospel music producer, Dr. Porter has led the Genesis Church Choir to national acclaim, performing alongside gospel legends such as CeCe Winans, Donald Lawrence, Bishop Hezekiah Walker, and the late Edwin & Bishop Walter Hawkins. He also led the choir to back-to-back honors as Regional Finalists in Verizon’s How Sweet the Sound Choir Competition.

Along with his brother, he has served for over a decade as Director of the MLK Celebration Community Choir—a dynamic, multicultural choir in Sacramento known for uniting churches across the region to celebrate the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

He is a long-standing member of the Recording Academy (Grammys) and serves on the board of the Edwin Hawkins Music & Arts Global Conference. In 2024, Dr. Porter hosted a live recording of his original songs, Songs From the Pastor’s Pen, as part of his 25th Pastoral Anniversary Celebration.

Beyond music, Dr. Porter is a recipient of the Wyatt T. Walker Award and serves on several civic and policy boards. Through music, ministry, and social advocacy, he continues to build bridges, inspire communities, and elevate lives around the world.

Dr. Ellington W. Porter Sr.

Pastor • Professor • Producer

Dr. Ellington W. Porter Sr. is a gifted pastor, professor, musician, and producer with deep roots in worship ministry and education. He served for over 19 years as Senior Pastor of Genesis Church Sacramento alongside his brother and now serves as Associate Professor of Worship at North Central University in Minneapolis, where he also serves as Director of Faculty Development and Chair of the School of Worship Arts.

Along with his brother, he has served as Director of the MLK Celebration Community Choir in Sacramento for over a decade—leading this multicultural choir to become a powerful voice for unity and celebration, performing at some of the city's largest community, civic, and faith-based events.

He has produced and directed music for gospel legends such as Edwin & Walter Hawkins, DJ Rogers, Juanita Bynum, and others. He has led worship for historic events including the George Floyd Funeral and the 2020 March on Washington.

Known for his humorous, prophetic, and powerful preaching, Dr. Porter continues to impact churches, conferences, and classrooms alike. He actively produces and consults through Porter Worship & Entertainment, and his latest projects include an upcoming album for his wife, Lady Tiwana Porter, and a special collaboration with his brother, both slated for release in 2025.
