The Porter Brothers

The Porter Brothers are the multi-talented sibling team of Dr. Tecoy Porter Sr. and Dr. Ellington Porter. They have served as Senior Pastors of the Genesis Church since August 1999. Known for their dynamic music ministry, The Porter Brothers have amassed many accolades and awards with the Genesis Church Choir including being selected as Regional Finalist of Verizon’s How Sweet the Sound Choir Competition in 2011 & 2012.  The Porters and Genesis have also performed with many national gospel artists including Bishop Hezekiah Walker, Donald Lawrence, CeCe Winans, the late Edwin Hawkins, the late Bishop Walter Hawkins, Beverly Crawford, DJ Rogers Sr, James “Big Jim “ Wright, and even country music’s Grammy award-winning group - The Judds.

In 2010, The Porter Brothers expanded their musical influence after assuming leadership of The MLK Celebration Choir; a citywide multicultural choir made up of over 100 voices representing churches of various denominations, cultures, and color throughout the Sacramento region. The MLK Celebration Choir has become a very popular group in the city being featured at the annual MLK Worship Celebration, the My City Conference opening with Hillsong’s Young & Free (2015), Luis Palau Festival (2012), NBA Sacramento Kings’ Faith & Family Night (2013), and Mayor Kevin Johnson’s State of the City Address (2013). Recently the Porter Brothers and MLK Choir performed with award-winning CCM artists Peter Furler of the Newsboys and Britt Nicole for 103.9 FM The Fish’s Christmas Concert (2017).

To date, The Porter Brothers have released three albums featuring the Genesis Choir under their label Markee Wes Productions: Be Ready He's Coming back (1995), Genesistical (1998), Together (2010).  In addition, they released an EP (2015) featuring the singles, ”All The Way The Tribute” and "God Is With Us (Live)". In 2001, The Porter Brothers released an album under a joint venture with God's Gospel Sound featuring their Genesis Youth Explosion Choir with the hit single "Everytime." They are excited to release their latest single "Sound of Victory" which features the Genesis Youth Explosion and the MLK Celebration choirs. The single is from the upcoming live album recording in celebration of the 25th Anniversary of the Genesis Youth Explosion Conference.

While more can be said about the Porter Brothers accomplishments, their foremost desire is to be known for their love for their families, commitment to their church, and service to God’s Kingdom.
